Bert Habets was appointed Co-CEO of RTL Group in April 2017. In this role he is responsible for RTL Group’s content production arm, FremantleMedia, and for the Group’s broadcasting activities in the Netherlands, Hungary and Croatia. Together with Co-CEO Guillaume de Posch, he is jointly responsible for the Group’s global digital businesses, SpotX, BroadbandTV and StyleHaul and for Group strategy.
As Co-CEO of RTL Group, Creativity, Consumer, Technology and Talent are crucial for Bert Habets to bring the Group to the next level: “Creativity is the quintessence of success in our industry. Leadership in creativity needs freedom to experiment. Consumer behaviour keeps on changing at a staggering pace. It is the consumers’ perspective that should guide all our offers and decisions. Technology has become an additional success factor in our business for both the consumer and advertising market. We are always on the lookout for the ‘next big thing’ for advertisers on our linear TV channels. Improving on our tech competencies is one of RTL Group’s key goals. To shake things up, we need to attract and retain the best Talent. This is more important than ever. We need to give ‘rebels’ the freedom to operate and experiment.”
Before becoming Co-CEO of RTL Group, Habets was CEO of RTL Nederland. Under his leadership, RTL Nederland has significantly grown its digital businesses while moving into other commercial areas such as RTL Ventures and RTL Live Entertainment. At the same time, he strengthened the company’s major free-to-air TV channels and oversaw the launch of four new channels. In 2014, Habets was voted ‘Most influential broadcast personality of the year 2013’ in the Netherlands.
